Upcoming Conferences of Note from AWIP, MAG & Serious Fraud Office

Advancing We in Policing

Ontario police leaders, please consider having your police service represented at the upcoming Advancing We in Policing – Ontario 2020 Workshop Agenda being held in Niagara Falls February 19 to 21, 2020.

The workshop will feature a number of Ontario police leaders, including OACP President Chief Paul Pedersen, OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique, RCMP Assistant Commissioner Jodie Boudreau, York Regional Police Deputy Chief Robertson Rouse, Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah, OPP Superintendent Susanne Decock and Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Ingrid Berkeley-Brown.

Other presenters include Calgary Police Service Superintendent (ret) Nina Vaughn, Association of Black Law Enforcers President Jacqueline Edwards, and Police Association of Ontario President Bruce Chapman.

Ministry of the Attorney General

The Ministry of the Attorney General is sponsoring a Mega Case/Organized Crime Training in Toronto on February 19 to 21, 2020. This initiative is part of the Attorney General’s anti-guns and gangs strategy launched on May 24, 2006. It is a multidisciplinary program bringing together Police Officers, Crown Prosecutors, Members of Corrections, and Victim/Witness Support Personnel. In the past, the Forum has greatly benefited from the participation of many representatives from your member policing agencies. We are hoping to once again attract strong representation from your member agencies to this new session.

Police services are invited to send their list of nominees for this year’s Mega Case / Guns and Gangs Training Forum to Anjani Sharma . Please include the work location and an email address of each of the nominees. There is no cost for this training and the deadline to register has been extended to January 17th .


Serious Fraud Office

The Serious Fraud Office will be hosting a one-day Victim Support Conference in Toronto on March 4, 2020. At this conference, many partners will come together for the goal of improving service to victims of financial crime in a unified manner. Attendance at this conference is by invitation only sent on behalf of the Chief Superintendent and Chief Counsel of the Serious Fraud Office (Ontario).
