The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) will plan to announce details of a partnership that will offer an exciting new opportunity for Ontario police officers to help young people in need to participate in sports and physical activities within their community. The announcement is expected sometime in September.
Jumpstart is a national charity with a commitment to help local communities. Its core purpose is to enrich the lives of kids in need from ages 4 to 18 through sports and physical activities. Through this partnership, officers who identify a young person, a family, or a group who might benefit from involvement with Jumpstart will be able to contact their local Jumpstart community partner agency to start an application for Jumpstart support. The local partner agency will handle the entire administrative process and this will allow the officer to do the fun part – work with the kids and see them succeed!

Timing is important. Applications for the January–March 2018 programs are due to Jumpstart by October 1, 2017. Don’t delay. Please share this exciting new opportunity with your organizations so that officers can begin to connect with their local Jumpstart community partners right away!
