2017 LEARN Conference

On behalf of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, the Law Enforcement and Records (Managers) Network (LEARN) is holding their annual conference in Ottawa. This is a great opportunity for people in policing involved with records (including CPIC, RTID, disclosure of information, record checks and criminal records) to learn about current trends and hot issues, while networking with peers from across the province.

Two sets of afternoon Breakout Sessions (1:00pm-2:30pm & 3:00pm-4:30pm).

When registering for Day 1, participants must choose ONE of the following options for each breakout session.

Breakout Session 1:  Rogue Data, Parole Board of Canada or CAPP/CCRTIS.

Breakout Session 2: Q&A with the LEARN Executive, UCR Data Quality Assurance or FOI Overview.

Managing records with NICHE and analytics, Biometrics, Records Retention, Record Checks, and LEARN business.


Ghosts and the Gallows – Tuesday, October 24th (late afternoon - time TBD)
Dare to venture inside the old Carleton County Jail, one of the most haunted buildings in North America? Tour the cellblock and ranges where inmates of all kinds were once imprisoned. Walk the steps from Death Row to the last working gallows in Canada. Was the wrong man hanged for the assassination of Thomas D’Arcy McGee? Does he still haunt the hallways of the jail to this day? You will be the jury. Hear the evidence, experience the jail and decide for yourself!
Adults $19.75, plus 10% discount.  It takes about 1.5 hours total, and will be in the ByWard Market area/Rideau Center. Lots of nice restaurants/pubs to choose from for dinner afterwards!
Conference delegates will need to pre-register by contacting Haunted Walk Ottawa at 613-232-0344 and referencing LEARN as the group name (pre-registration by October 16th).



The registration fee of $125 per day (plus HST) includes breakfasts, lunches, breaks, light refreshments at the Meet & Greet, and all materials.
