OACP/OMRON Crime Prevention Media Award

To be awarded annually by the Ontario Associaiton of Chiefs of Police and the Chair of the Ontario Media Relations Officers Network, and sponsored by the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the "OACP/OMRON Crime Prevention Media Award" will be presented to an individual member or a team within a police organization in Ontario which excels in the promotion of crime prevention through the filter of the media.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 26th, 2013.

OACP/OMRON Award of Excellence in Media Relations

To be awarded annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Chair of the Ontario Media Relations Officers Network, and sponsored by 680News, the "OACP/OMRON Award of Excellence in Media Relations" will be presented to a sworn or civilian who has excelled in the area of media relations and whose commitment to good media relations has improved their service, a program, or generally made a difference to media relations in the Province of Ontario.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 26th, 2013.

OACP Outstanding Liquor Enforcement Award

Awarded annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and sponsored by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the Award for Outstanding Liquor Enforcement will be presented annually to the police agencies which demonstrate excellence and innovation in liquor enforcement. One award will be presented to an agency with more than 500 employees and one award will be presented to an agency with fewer than 500 employees.

DEADLINE EXTENDED: Nominations must be no later than Friday, April 26th, 2013.

OACP Traffic Safety - Award of Excellence

Awarded annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and sponsored by the Ontario Minister of Transportation, the "Traffic Safety - Award of Excellence" will be presented to a serving individual who has clearly devoted part of their career dedicated to furthering traffic safety initiatives. One recipient will be selected annually to receive this prestigious award. From the applications received, up to two other nominees will be honoured with certificates of merit to recognize their significant contributions.

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 12th, 2013.

Awarded annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and sponsored by the Ontario Minister of Transportation, the "Lifetime Achievement in Traffic Safety" Award will be presented to a serving individual who has clearly devoted themselves and their policing efforts to furthering traffic safety initiatives. One officer will be selected annually to receive this prestigious award. From the applications received, up to two other nominees will be honoured with certificatesof merit to recognize their significant contributions.

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 12th, 2013.

OACP Traffic Safety Initiative of the Year Awards

Awarded annually by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and sponsored by the Ontario Minister of Transportation, the "Traffic Safety Initiative of the Year" awards will be presented to the police organizations creating, developing and implementing Ontario's most successful traffic safety programs. One award will be presented to an organization with over 500 officers. Another will be presented to an organization with less than 500 officers. Up to two certificates of merit will also be awarded in each category, recognizing initiatives that although not successful in winning the award, were deemed to be highly deserving.

Submissions must be received no later than Friday, April 12th, 2013.

2013 President's Award of Merit

The President's Award of Merit recognizes an OACP member(s) who has demonstrated outstanding dedication and support to the advancement of the goals and objectives of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.

The OACP President presents the President's Award of Merit at the OACP's Annual Conference.

Nomination must be no later than Friday, April 12th, 2013.

Gimborn Scholarship

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the International Police Association, Ontario Regions (IPA) are pleased to offer The Gimborn Scholarship.  This annual scholarship will be awarded to one Ontario police officer to travel to the IPA's Conference Centre at Gimborn near Cologne, Germany and enroll in one of the IPA's specialized policing seminars.  The scholarship covers the flight, accommodations, and seminar costs.

Submission must be submitted no later than Friday, April 12, 2013.

OACP Crime Prevention Award

This award is sponsored by Accident Support Services International and is presented to a police agency that has developed an innovative crime prevention initiative or strategy that has contributed towards the prevention or reduction of crime in a specific area which ultimately resulted in the enhancement of community safety.

OACP School Resource Officer - Award of Excellence

This award is sponsored by Accident Support Services International and seeks to recognize an officer who has contributed to the overall well-being of students and the community at large in an exemplary manner - an officer who has strived to build the relationships required to bridge the gap between students, schools, communities, and the police.

OACP Community Policing Award

Based upon Ontario's Mobilization & Engagement Model of Community Policing

This award is sponsored by Accident Support Services International and is presented in recognition of the accomplishments of police agencies and their community partners working together to improve community well-being, safety and security.  Award winners will demonstrate their commitment to, and understanding of, Ontario's Mobilization & Engagement Model of Community Policing.  The subject project need not be complete, nor does it have to have been initiated with this model.  The submission should, however, demonstrate how the project fits within the framework of the model.

OACP Victims Assistance Committee Award

The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ministry of the Attorney General - Victims and Vulnerable Persons Division are pleased to announce the tenth annual "OACP Victims Assistance Committee Award".  The purpose of the award is to recognize and promote the contributions made by members of Ontario Police Services, alone or in partnership with private or public community agencies, for improving the level of service provided to victims of crime, tragic events or other unfortunate circumstances.
